A civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a doctor inside the seminar hall of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Police reportedly found Roy’s Bluetooth headphones near the scene of the crime.
The autopsy report reveals that the victim was strangled and also shows evidence of sexual assault. The findings indicate that her death resulted from manual strangulation and smothering, with several injuries on her body.
According to the report, there were 16 external injuries, including abrasions on her cheeks, lips, nose, neck, arms, and knees. Additionally, nine internal injuries were documented, some of which were on her genitalia, indicating forceful assault. All of the injuries were sustained before her death.
Further analysis discovered a "white thick viscid fluid" in her private parts, although the report does not clarify its nature. No fractures were mentioned in the findings.
In response, doctors have organized protests demanding justice for the victim.
